Consensus Hong Kong 2027: Dates, HKCEC, Arrival and Data
Consensus returns to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 1-3 February 2027, three days before Lunar New Year. How to get from the airport to Wan Chai, plan side events and land with data working.
Quick answer: Consensus Hong Kong 2027 runs 1-3 February 2027 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) in Wan Chai, with the exhibition on 2-3 February. Lunar New Year starts on 6 February, so book flights home early. Many passports visit Hong Kong visa-free for 7 to 180 days. Contactless Visa, Mastercard and UnionPay cards now work at MTR gates, including the Airport Express. Have data working before you land: a Hong Kong travel eSIM installed at home is one option.
Key takeaways
- 1-3 February 2027 at HKCEC. The exhibition runs 2-3 February. The venue is a five-minute walk from Exhibition Centre MTR station.
- Lunar New Year follows straight after. Hong Kong's holidays are 6, 8 and 9 February 2027. Flights and rooms around that weekend fill early.
- Your bank card is your ticket. Contactless Visa, Mastercard and UnionPay cards, and phones linked to them, work at MTR gates including the Airport Express. Tap the same card in and out.
- Pack a layer. Hong Kong's February averages run from about 15°C to 19°C, and convention halls are air-conditioned.
Your flight lands at Chek Lap Kok at 9pm, the welcome drinks are in a Wan Chai bar at 10, and the Luma pin will not load because your phone is still looking for a roaming partner. The queue for the Airport Express ticket machine is long. You do not need it, but you do not know that yet.
Consensus is back in Hong Kong, and February is a good time to be in the city: cool, clear and lit up for Lunar New Year. Here is how to arrive, get to HKCEC, plan side events and stay online all week.
When and where is Consensus Hong Kong 2027?
| Date | What | Where |

| 1-3 February 2027 | Consensus Hong Kong conference | Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Wan Chai |
| 2-3 February 2027 | Exhibition floor | HKCEC |

The official Consensus site lists the dates and venue, with registration on the same site. Check there for passes and the agenda rather than relying on reposted calendars, which sometimes show only the first day.
What do you need before you fly to Hong Kong?
- Entry rules for your passport. Hong Kong's Immigration Department lists visa-free visits from 7 to 180 days depending on nationality. Visitors may not work or join a business without the right visa, so if your trip is more than attending, check with ImmD.
- A flight home that is not on Lunar New Year weekend, unless you want to stay for it. The holidays fall on 6, 8 and 9 February 2027.
- A contactless card that works abroad. Foreign cards are charged in Hong Kong dollars, and your bank may add a foreign transaction fee.
- A light jacket. February normals in Hong Kong average 17.1°C, with mean lows around 15°C.
How do you get from the airport to HKCEC?
Skip the ticket machine. Since mid-2026 the Airport Express gates accept contactless Visa, Mastercard and UnionPay credit, debit and prepaid cards (not UnionPay debit), and phones or watches linked to them, so the whole MTR heavy-rail network now takes a card tap. Use the same card or device to enter and exit, and note that only standard adult fares apply.
Ride the Airport Express to Hong Kong station, then change for Wan Chai on the Island Line, or take the East Rail Line to Exhibition Centre station, a five-minute walk from HKCEC at 1 Expo Drive. If you are staying in Tsim Sha Tsui, the Star Ferry to Wan Chai is one of the nicest commutes anywhere, and the Wan Chai pier is close to the venue. Taxis are metered, so there is nothing to haggle.
An Octopus card still helps for minibuses, some shops and concession fares, but for a conference week on the MTR a card tap does the job.
How should you plan Consensus side events?
Hong Kong is compact, which makes side events easy to stack and easy to overdo. The MTR and the ferry will get you anywhere on the harbour in under half an hour, so plan by time slot, not by district.
- Breakfasts near the venue. Wan Chai and Admiralty hotels host the early roundtables. Walk or take one MTR stop.
- Evenings in Central and Kowloon. Rooftops in Central and harbour-view bars across the water in Tsim Sha Tsui are the usual party venues. Metered taxis fill the gap after the trains.
- Confirm the day of. Luma addresses change. Screenshot the pin and the QR ticket while you still have signal.
- Leave room for the city. A dim sum breakfast before the expo floor opens, or the flower stalls and lanterns going up before Lunar New Year, are part of why people stay an extra day.
How do you have data working when you land?
The fix is the same whatever you buy: choose your data before you board, install it at home on Wi-Fi, keep your home SIM on for bank SMS, and switch the travel line on after landing. Then the Airport Express, the hotel pin and the welcome-drinks chat all work before you clear the arrivals hall.
A Hong Kong travel eSIM is one option. In the Fizen catalog checked on 26 October 2026, Hong Kong plans run on the 3 network with 4G and 5G. Fixed-data plans range from 1 GB to 20 GB over 3 to 30 days and slow to 384 kbps once the data is used, which still loads messages and email. If Hong Kong is one stop on a longer Asia trip, an Asia regional plan in the catalog covers 18 countries. Check the eSIM tab in the app or fizen.io/esim for current plans for Hong Kong before you buy.
Most plans cannot be topped up, so size for the whole trip: more data means a second eSIM. For a five-day Consensus week on maps, MTR, Luma and chats, a 10 GB plan over 7 days leaves headroom; if you stay through Lunar New Year, take the 15-day version. If an eSIM fails on Fizen's side, a real person in chat sorts it, and a verified fault is replaced free for the length of the trip under the Trip Guarantee. Changed plans? An unused, not-yet-installed eSIM can usually be taken back; eligibility depends on the plan, check Package details or ask chat.
The honest alternative: a Hong Kong prepaid tourist SIM from a convenience store or the airport gives you a local number, which a data-only eSIM does not. If you need local calls or SMS codes, the SIM wins that job. Note that a Hong Kong plan covers Hong Kong only: a side trip to mainland China needs its own plan, set up before you cross.
What does Consensus week look like once this is sorted?
You tap your card through the Airport Express gate, answer the side-event chat on the train, and walk into HKCEC with the agenda already loaded. The week is about the people, the harbour and maybe a first taste of Lunar New Year, not about hunting for Wi-Fi.
Fizen is building the stablecoin neobank for people on the move: a wallet you own, travel data and more in one app, backed by an investment from Tether.
