- Description: The Vietnam e-visa has one official portal, evisa.gov.vn, and a fixed government fee. Here are the application steps, the fee and validity, how long it takes, how to check your status, and the red flags of lookalike sites, with sources dated to November 2026.

**Quick answer:** As of 2 November 2026, you apply for the Vietnam e-visa only on the government portal evisa.gov.vn (thithucdientu.gov.vn runs the same system): US$25 for a single entry or US$50 for multiple entry, valid up to 90 days, usually decided in about 3 working days, and you check the result in the portal's e-visa search with your registration code, email and date of birth. A site that is not on .gov.vn, charges more than that or asks you to pay to check status is not the government portal.

**Key takeaways**

- **One portal, two domains.** The Ministry of Public Security runs the e-visa at evisa.gov.vn and thithucdientu.gov.vn. Both end in .gov.vn.
- **Fee and validity.** US$25 single entry, US$50 multiple entry, valid up to 90 days, paid on the portal and not refunded if the visa is refused.
- **Apply early.** About 3 working days is the usual time; guides say peaks such as Tet can take up to 10, so apply at least two weeks ahead.
- **Checking status is free.** If a site charges for it, or for 'express' approval, you are not on the official portal.

You search 'Vietnam e visa' the week before you fly, and the first results are ads for 'express visas' with a flag in the logo. That is exactly how people end up paying three or four times the government fee, or handing a passport scan to a lookalike site. Vietnam's own police said in July 2026 that fake e-visa sites are common enough to need an awareness campaign.

Sort the visa first, then sort how you land. The Fizen app covers the second half for foreign visitors: your travel eSIM gift is waiting there, US$10 of eSIM credit that comes off the bill automatically at checkout (up to 30% of each plan, new users only), payable with USDT or by card, so you can install a Vietnam data plan at home. ## Which website is the official Vietnam e-visa portal?

The Ministry of Public Security launched the official e-visa system at evisa.gov.vn and thithucdientu.gov.vn, VNA reported on 26 July 2026 (via VietnamPlus). The Immigration Department's own page says the system has run on those two addresses since 11 November 2024 and that the e-visa is valid for a maximum of 90 days, single or multiple entry. You cannot apply on immigration.gov.vn, which carries policy notices only.

Anyone with a valid passport can apply: VnEconomy's English edition reported in February 2025 that citizens of all countries and territories are eligible. Vietnam also exempts some nationalities from visas altogether, so check that first with our Vietnam entry requirements guide.

## How do you apply for the Vietnam e-visa, step by step?

The steps below follow a vietnamtourism.com guide updated on 30 October 2026; the portal wording may differ slightly, so follow its own prompts.

1. Have ready a passport photo-page scan (JPG, under 2 MB), a passport-style photo on white, entry and exit dates, your border gate, a first-night address and an international Visa or Mastercard.
2. Open evisa.gov.vn by typing the address yourself and choose the e-visa application for foreigners.
3. Upload the photo and the passport page and wait for the green checks.
4. Type your details exactly as printed in the passport. A spelling mismatch is a common reason for delay.
5. Choose single or multiple entry and your dates, then the border gate. The same guide says you must enter at the gate you selected but may leave through any, and that the entry date is firm.
6. Pay the fee on the portal and save the registration code it gives you. You need that code to check status.

## How much does it cost, and how long is the e-visa valid?

| Item | Official answer (as of 2 November 2026) |
| ------------ | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Fee | US$25 single entry, US$50 multiple entry (VnEconomy, Feb 2025; vietnamtourism.com, 30 Oct 2026) |
| Validity | Up to 90 days, single or multiple entry (Immigration Department) |
| Refund | Not refunded if the visa is not granted (Immigration Department) |
| Border gates | 83 gates open to e-visa holders (Immigration Director Pham Dang Khoa, July 2026) |
| Passport | At least 6 months' validity from your entry date (VietNamNet, 6 May 2026) |

I could not read the portal's own fee page, because it loads with scripts, so the US$25 and US$50 figures come from the news and guide sources above. Confirm them on evisa.gov.vn before you pay. For an Indian-passport walk-through of the same fees, see our [Vietnam e-visa for Indians guide](https://blog.fizen.io/vietnam-e-visa-for-indians-2026/).

## How long does processing take, and how do you check your status?

The common figure is 3 working days, not counting weekends and Vietnamese public holidays. vietnamtourism.com adds that Tet and summer can stretch it to 10 working days and advises applying two weeks ahead. The Immigration Department page does not state a processing time, so treat 3 days as a guide, not a promise.

To check, open the portal's e-visa search and enter your registration code, the email you used and your date of birth. The guide lists four statuses: processing, granted, amended application (fix the details the email asks for) and rejected (apply again). Download the approval PDF and print it. If nothing changes after about 7 working days, the guide suggests reapplying rather than paying a third party.

## How can you spot a fake Vietnam e-visa portal?

VNA reported on 26 July 2026 that fraudsters copy the look of the official portals, register misleading domains and buy ads, with AI making the copies harder to tell apart. Vietnam issued more than 4 million e-visas in 2025, and nearly 2.5 million in the first half of 2026, so the target is large. Officer Nguyen Tien Nam of the A05 unit told people to use only .gov.vn addresses and report suspected fraud.

- **The address is not .gov.vn.** .com, .org and .net sites are not the government, whatever flags or seals they show.
- **The price is above US$25 or US$50.** vietnamtourism.com says third-party sites often charge US$75 to US$200\. A real agency may add a service fee, but then it is a paid agent, not the portal.
- **It sells 'express' or 'same-day' approval,** or charges to check status, which is free on the official site.
- **It asks for more than the form needs,** such as bank details or ID numbers beyond your passport.
- **You arrived through an ad.** Type evisa.gov.vn yourself instead of clicking a search ad.

## What about visa on arrival, or no visa at all?

A true 'visa on arrival' needs a pre-approval letter from an agency first, plus a stamping fee in cash at the airport, according to vietnamtourism.com. For most visitors the e-visa is simpler. If your passport is on Vietnam's exemption list you may need no visa for 45 days; the lists and the 2025 changes are in our Vietnam travel requirements guide.

## What should you sort out before you land?

The visa is the paperwork half. The other half is being online and able to pay in the first hour, and a Vietnam eSIM installed at home means your maps and Grab work at the gate. One option is Fizen's Asia plan, which, as of 2 November 2026, runs on Viettel Mobile 4G in Vietnam; fixed-data plans slow to 128 kbps after the allowance. Check the eSIM tab in the app for current Vietnam plans. A fault on Fizen's side gets a free 1:1 replacement for the whole trip from a real person in live chat. It is data only, so keep your home SIM on for bank codes. Install it on home Wi-Fi before you fly. For paying once you are through, fizen QR Pay lets foreign visitors in Vietnam pay VietQR, VNPay, MoMo and ZaloPay codes from USDT, with the amount shown in dong before you confirm. It is for visitors only, funded only with USDT on Solana or BNB Chain, with limits of US$800 per payment and US$1,000 per week. USDT moved into QR Pay is governed by the QR Pay Terms.
