- Description: Arrivals-hall counters at Bangkok airport pay several percent less than the booths one floor down by the Airport Rail Link. Where to go, what to bring, and how much more the city really pays.

**Quick answer:** Yes, for most travellers. The exchange booths on the B floor of Suvarnabhumi, at the Airport Rail Link level, including SuperRich Thailand (open 6 am to 11 pm per its 6 October 2026 notice), pay far better than the arrivals-hall counters, which forum regulars in April 2026 put at roughly 6 to 8% worse. The city head offices pay only about 1% more again, so bring your passport and large, clean notes and change on arrival.

**Key takeaways**

- **Go down to the B floor.** The booths by the Airport Rail Link pay close to city rates; the counters in arrivals and at the top of the ramp do not.
- **SuperRich Thailand's airport branch** is on the B floor (Airport Rail Link), open 6:00 to 23:00, per its notice dated 6 October 2026.
- **Passport required.** SuperRich Thailand asks for a valid ID card or passport, changes no coins and charges no commission.
- **Big notes get the best rate.** On 27 October 2026 its head office paid 33.68 baht for a US$100 or US$50 note but 33.42 for a US$1 note.
- **The city is only slightly better.** Regulars put the airport SuperRich about 1% below the head office in April 2026.

You clear immigration at Suvarnabhumi, walk into arrivals and see a row of bank counters with rates on screens. Most first-timers change money right there. The people who come back every year walk past them, find the ramp down to the Airport Rail Link, and change at the booths on the B floor, where the rate is noticeably better and the queue is usually the only cost.

## How much better is the basement than arrivals?

Enough to matter. In an April 2026 Bangkok forum thread, several long-time visitors agreed that other exchangers around the airport pay roughly 7% less than SuperRich and the two neighbouring booths in the basement; one poster who changed at the train level in February 2026 measured the other counters at about 6.4% worse, and said his basement rate was almost identical to the city.

On a US$500 swap, a 6 to 7% gap is roughly 1,000 baht: a couple of good dinners. On US$50 for a taxi, it is not worth an argument with your feet after a night flight.

## Where exactly are the good booths?

Follow the signs to the Airport Rail Link and go down to the B floor. SuperRich Thailand's notice of 6 October 2026 gives its location as B floor, Suvarnabhumi Airport (Airport Rail Link), open 6 am to 11 pm.

Regulars describe three booths side by side down there: SuperRich, Happy Rich and a privately run booth carrying a bank brand, which they say is different from the regular bank counters upstairs. They also warn about a booth at the top of the ramp and one basement booth with poor rates, so compare the boards before you hand over cash. SuperRich usually has the longest queue; the booths next to it often show the same or a better rate.

## What do I need to bring, and which notes get the best rate?

SuperRich Thailand's FAQ asks for a valid ID card or passport to buy or sell currency, says it changes no coins, and charges no commission. Have the passport out before you reach the window.

Denomination matters. Its head office board on 27 October 2026 at 08:44 paid:

| US dollar note | Baht per dollar (buying) |
| -------------- | ------------------------ |
| 100 or 50 | 33.68 |
| 20 or 10 | 33.62 |
| 5 | 33.57 |
| 1 | 33.42 |

So US$100 and US$50 notes earn the top rate and singles lose almost 1%. SuperRich's website has a banknotes page showing each currency's notes front and back, worth checking if yours are an older design. Rates move during the day with the market; both the SuperRich website and its app show the current board.

## Is the city head office worth the trip?

Only for large amounts. In the April 2026 thread, regulars put the airport SuperRich at about 1% below the head office rates and noted the gap had widened recently. An older thread measured about 0.2 baht per US dollar between the airport and head office, roughly 20 baht on US$100.

There are also two separate SuperRich companies, known by their orange and green colours, each with its own head office and rates; the green one, SuperRich Thailand, has its head office at Rajdamri 1 on Ratchadamri Road, open Monday to Friday 9:00 to 18:00 and Saturday 9:30 to 17:00, closed Sunday. Do not cross town on a Sunday for a fraction of a percent.

## What people who have done it say

- **Change a little at the airport, the rest later.** A common plan is enough for the taxi, dinner and day one, then top up near your hotel.
- **Walk past the first booth.** At the bottom of the ramp, the first booths have the queue; the ones behind them rarely do and showed the same rate for one regular.
- **ATMs are not the fallback.** Thai ATMs charged foreign cards a flat fee one poster put at 250 baht per withdrawal in April 2026, before your own bank's charge.
- **Do not change everything.** Swapping leftover baht back costs you a second spread.
- **Cards cover more than they used to.** One returning visitor said most places in Pattaya now take cards, so he changes only for taxis, buses and street food.

## Does Fizen help with cash in Thailand?

Not with the exchange itself. Fizen does not change cash, and Fizen QR Pay works only in Vietnam and the Philippines, not in Thailand. Where it helps is the step before: comparing live rates on the exchanger's website or app, booking a ride to the city and messaging your hotel all need data, and terminal Wi-Fi stays behind you.

In the Fizen catalogue on 26 October 2026, Thailand country plans ran on TrueMove H (4G and 5G); that is one option, so check the eSIM tab in the app for current plans. Install at home on Wi-Fi and it connects on landing. It is data only, so keep your home SIM on for bank codes.
