# Phu Quoc or Da Nang for Indian Travellers 2026: Flights, Visa, Money

- Description: Both are beach trips, but for an Indian traveller they are not equally easy. Direct flights, the Phu Quoc visa-free catch, rain seasons that do not overlap, where vegetarians eat well, and how to pay and stay online in each.

**Quick answer:** For most Indian travellers in 2026, Da Nang is the easier trip: direct flights run from New Delhi, Mumbai and Ahmedabad, Hoi An and Ba Na Hills are close, and vegetarian food is easy to find. Phu Quoc suits a pure beach holiday from November to April, but there is no direct flight from India, and its 30-day visa-free entry only applies if you fly in directly from abroad, so most Indians still need the US$25 e-visa.

**Key takeaways**

- **Flights decide it.** Da Nang has direct routes from New Delhi, Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Phu Quoc needs a connection.
- **The Phu Quoc visa catch:** visa-free only if you land there from outside Vietnam and stay on the island. Connect through Ho Chi Minh City and you need an e-visa.
- **Opposite rainy seasons.** Phu Quoc is dry from November to April; Da Nang's rain runs from about September to December. February to April suits both.
- **Same money rules.** UPI cannot scan VietQR yet. Cash, a card in dong, and Fizen QR Pay for visitors cover both places.

Somewhere in every Indian family's Vietnam planning chat, the question comes up: Phu Quoc or Da Nang? One cousin posts the Golden Bridge, another posts a Phu Quoc sunset, and nobody mentions the flight connections or the visa fine print.

Vietnam received more than 612,000 Indian visitors in the first eight months of 2026, and these two are near the top of the list. Here is how they compare on the things that actually shape an Indian trip.

## Which is easier to reach from India?

**Da Nang.** Direct routes link New Delhi, Mumbai and Ahmedabad with Da Nang, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, which is a big reason Indian arrivals have climbed. The airport sits inside the city, so the beach is a short taxi ride from arrivals.

**Phu Quoc** has an international airport with flights from Bangkok, Seoul, Singapore and other Asian hubs, but no direct route from India named in Vietnam's 2026 figures. You connect, either inside Vietnam through Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi, or abroad through Bangkok, Singapore or Kuala Lumpur. That choice changes your visa.

## Do you need a visa for Phu Quoc or Da Nang?

Da Nang needs a visa: the e-visa from evisa.gov.vn costs US$25 single entry or US$50 multiple entry, valid up to 90 days, usually in about 3 working days.

Phu Quoc offers foreign visitors, Indians included, up to 30 days visa-free, but only if you arrive on the island directly from outside Vietnam and stay there. Fly in via Ho Chi Minh City and you entered the mainland first, so you need a visa. On 6 April 2026 the Embassy of India in Hanoi advised Indians to get a visa even for a Phu Quoc-only trip, because an emergency or a cancelled flight can force you to the mainland. For US$25, that is cheap insurance.

## When is the weather better in each?

| | Phu Quoc | Da Nang |
| -------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Dry, sunny season | November to April, best January to March | Roughly February to August |
| Rainy season | May to October | About September to December, heaviest in October and November |
| Good for both | February to April | February to April |
| Indian school holidays in May and June | Rainy season starts | Hot and dry, a good fit |

So Christmas and New Year breaks point to Phu Quoc, summer holidays point to Da Nang, and a spring trip can do both with a domestic flight in between.

## Where do vegetarians eat better?

Da Nang, comfortably. It has a long tradition of Vietnamese vegetarian eateries, called quan chay, such as Lien Hoa and Bep Chay Khong, plus Indian restaurants with pure-veg menus. Local vegetarian places get busiest on the 1st and 15th days of the lunar month, so book or go early on those days.

Phu Quoc is a seafood island first: the night market is built around fresh seafood, and fish sauce goes into most dishes. Vegetarians manage, but plan around resort restaurants. In either city, say "chay" (vegetarian) and ask for no fish sauce, "khong nuoc mam".

## How do you pay in Phu Quoc and Da Nang?

The same way in both. Resorts and malls take cards; choose to pay in dong, never rupees, because Indian cards already add a forex markup plus 18% GST on it. Street food, beach shacks, market stalls and many cafes take cash or a VietQR code, and UPI cannot scan VietQR yet: India and Vietnam signed a QR memorandum in May 2026, with no launch date.

As a foreigner in Vietnam, you can pay those codes with Fizen QR Pay. Create or import your Fizen wallet (non-custodial), get USDT on Solana or BNB Chain into it, deposit from the wallet into QR Pay, complete KYC (per wallet and per device), then scan and check the dong amount before you confirm. USDT on another network, or another token, cannot be deposited. The [QR Pay guide](https://docs.fizen.io/help-center/fizen-app/faq/how-to-use-qr-pay?ref=blog.fizen.io) shows each screen. Limits are US$800 per payment and US$1,000 per week, and in Vietnam QR Pay pays only Vietnamese account holders' codes, so if a resort boutique's code fails, ask for another way to pay.

Be straight with yourself on tax: India taxes virtual digital assets at 30% with 1% TDS on transfers, and spending USDT can count as one. If you do not already hold USDT, a forex card plus cash is simpler. USDT moved into QR Pay is governed by the QR Pay Terms, so move in only what you will spend.

## Will your phone have signal and data?

You will use more data than you expect in both: Grab, Google Maps in Hoi An's lanes, translating menus, and the family video call from the Golden Bridge.

Fizen's Vietnam eSIM runs on Viettel's 4G network, checked on 26 October 2026\. On fixed plans speed drops to 128 kbps once the data is used, and most plans cannot be topped up, so size for the full trip with headroom. Install it at home on Wi-Fi and keep your Indian SIM in for bank OTPs. New users get US$10 of eSIM credit in the Fizen app's eSIM tab.

## So which should you choose?

Choose Da Nang for a first trip, a family with vegetarians, a summer holiday, or a direct flight. Choose Phu Quoc for a winter beach week when you are happy to connect, and get the e-visa anyway. Either way, the trip goes smoother when data is on at landing and the first coconut is paid by QR. Fizen is building the stablecoin neobank for people on the move, and that small moment is the point.
