- Description: You land at Changi for TOKEN2049, flight mode goes off, and the travel eSIM shows nothing. Here is the 5-minute order of fixes for iPhone and Android, and when to stop and switch lines.

**Quick answer:** If your eSIM does not work after landing in Singapore, it is almost always a setting. Check four things in order: the travel line is turned on, it is set as your cellular data line, Data Roaming is on for that line, and flight mode is off. Then restart. Still nothing? Join free #WiFi@Changi, check the APN, and contact your eSIM provider with your ICCID.

**Key takeaways**

- **Most failures are settings, not a broken eSIM.** Line on, data line, Data Roaming, restart. In that order.
- **A travel eSIM needs Data Roaming on.** It is a foreign SIM on a Singapore network, so the phone treats it as roaming even though you pay nothing extra.
- **Turn Data Roaming off on your home line** and switch off Allow Cellular Data Switching, so your home carrier cannot bill you by accident.
- **#WiFi@Changi is free with no sign-up**, so you can reach support from the arrival hall before you leave the airport.

### Which network you get, and what it really costs

In Singapore the Fizen eSIM roams on StarHub (5G). Singapore is sold inside the South-Eastern Asia plan, which covers 18 countries. At 128 kbps you can still send messages and load map tiles, but not hold a video call.

| Plan | Days | Price | Per day | Per GB | After the high-speed data |
| ----- | ---- | -------- | ------- | ------- | ------------------------- |
| 1 GB | 3 | US$9.94 | US$3.31 | US$9.94 | slows to 128 kbps |
| 5 GB | 7 | US$16.68 | US$2.38 | US$3.34 | slows to 128 kbps |
| 5 GB | 15 | US$17.35 | US$1.16 | US$3.47 | slows to 128 kbps |
| 5 GB | 30 | US$18.36 | US$0.61 | US$3.67 | slows to 128 kbps |
| 10 GB | 7 | US$23.52 | US$3.36 | US$2.35 | slows to 128 kbps |

*Prices and carrier read from the Fizen catalogue on 23 September 2026\. Data only, no calls or SMS.*

Prices are before the welcome credit. A new user who opens the eSIM tab in the [Fizen app](https://link.fizen.io/s/3UhZZusPJq?ref=blog.fizen.io) for the first time gets US$10 of eSIM credit automatically, with no code, valid for 12 months. The app shows how much of it comes off your order. Paying by card on the web works too, but the credit only applies in the app.

You land at Changi, walk off the plane and switch off flight mode. Your home line shows its usual roaming message. The travel eSIM you installed last week shows no bars, or bars and no internet. You need Grab, the side event approval email and your hotel address. Right now.

## Why is my eSIM not working in Singapore?

Bars without internet almost always means Data Roaming or the APN. No bars at all usually means the line is off, flight mode is still on, or the phone has not registered yet. Keep that split in mind and you will fix it faster.

| ------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------- |
| No bars on the travel line | Line off, or not registered yet | Turn the line on, then flight mode on and off |
| Bars, but no internet | Data Roaming off, or wrong data line | Data Roaming on for the travel line, set it as data line |
| Internet drops during calls | Data moving to your home line during a call | Turn off Allow Cellular Data Switching |
| Everything looks right, still no data | APN missing, or plan issue | Check the APN in your install email, then contact support |
| "No SIM" or line missing | eSIM was deleted or never installed | Contact support with your order ID and ICCID |

## eSIM not working on iPhone in Singapore: fixes in order

1. **Turn the line on.** Settings, Cellular (Mobile Data on some regions), tap the travel eSIM, turn on **Turn On This Line**.
2. **Make it your data line.** Settings, Cellular, Cellular Data, pick the travel eSIM.
3. **Turn Data Roaming on for the travel line.** Settings, Cellular, tap the travel eSIM, Cellular Data Options, turn on **Data Roaming**.
4. **Stop the home line from taking over.** On the Cellular Data screen, turn off **Allow Cellular Data Switching**. Then tap your home line and make sure its Data Roaming is off, unless you want your home carrier's roaming.
5. **Toggle flight mode.** Turn Airplane Mode on, wait 10 seconds, turn it off.
6. **Restart the iPhone.** This often forces it to register on the Singapore network.
7. **Check the APN.** Settings, Cellular, Cellular Data Network. If your eSIM email lists an APN and the field is empty or different, type it in. Apple notes you can only see or edit this if the carrier allows it.
8. **Check for a carrier settings update.** Settings, General, About. If an update is offered, install it.

## eSIM not working on Android in Singapore: Pixel and Samsung

Menu names change a little by brand and Android version, but the logic is the same as on iPhone.

### Google Pixel

1. **Turn the eSIM on.** Settings, Network & internet, SIMs, tap the travel eSIM, turn on **Use this SIM**.
2. **Make it your data SIM.** On the SIMs screen, turn on Mobile data and choose the travel eSIM as the data SIM.
3. **Turn Roaming on** for the travel eSIM on the same screen.
4. **Check Access point names** in the SIM's settings. Match the APN in your install email.
5. **Restart.** If it still fails, Settings, System, Reset options, **Reset Mobile Network Settings**. Do this last.

## Why does Data Roaming have to be on if I paid for a Singapore eSIM?

Most travel eSIMs are issued by a carrier outside Singapore and ride on a local Singapore network. To your phone, that is roaming. Apple describes Data Roaming as internet access over a cellular network when you are in a region your carrier's own network does not cover. So the switch must be on for the travel line.

It does not cost you extra on a prepaid travel eSIM. The cost risk is on your **home** line. That is why step 4 above matters: keep Data Roaming off on your home SIM and keep that SIM as your number for calls and bank SMS codes only.
